Since I was flying out of Frankfurt am Main this time, we decided to stay a couple of days before and visit the town. The Altstadt (old town) is really beautiful with those traditional looking tall timber houses and a long winding river (The Main) good for walks. But even more magnificent is the Train station. Just like in the movies. Huge and open and BUSY with people of all different nations. What a rush!

Of course one of the first things we did was go to a record store. Martys trips would not be complete without checking out the local record shops, but in this case I am so glad we did. The owner was extremely nice and quite connected as it turns out (a record store owner connected? say it isnīt so). The big party of the weekend was being thrown by one of his friends that was at the store as well. But the cool thing was that it was being thrown in Frankfurts old town hall dating from the 1500s. They had bands and DJs and tons of people and drinking and merry making of course. But what I found interesting were two things. First, Germany does this cool thing of CRV with bar. They charge you an extra 1€ for your bottle or glass, but you get it back when you bring it back to the bar. Keeps the place way cleaner. Second, everyone was respecting the property. And that means thousands of people. In a building with intricate ancient wood work and murals and mosaic work. The venue was beyond amazing, but the fact that you could actually have a party there without mayhem was even more enlightening.

This trip of course was short, and also a bit sad. Marty and I were to part again for another 3 months and we were unsure of what was to come next. But Frankfurt was a nice weekend, and made for a few more special memories...
