(C) THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Krk has too many tourists, not enough beach, and should be avoided. Croatia must offer better somewhere.
The campground at Punat on Krk is NOT a pleasure, but it is light years better than the campground at Stara Baska, which left us feeling like we would be robbed, or maybe enslaved during the night in the weird tent colony crowded into a small area clinging to not enough space along the sea. TOO weird. (S) This place is kinda beyond description. It is certainly different than the other European beach communities we've been to - I'm thinking the rest of the Dalmation coast is different. This campground was overcrowded, dirty, loud, BUT right on the coast. Our tent was 50 ft from the outdoor restaurant which was super handy for dinner and breakfast the next morning. Not so handy for sleeping. Oh well - we did get to see very large hairy Croatian women in bathing suits, so that was a positive. And the water was great. I do love swimming!
