(C) Slovakia is a very strange place.  I can't figure out what is going on.  It seems to be very poor, but it is so beautiful and is full of natural resources.  We stopped along the river just to get out and go for a walk.  I bet there are fish in that river, which is a change from Italy and France.  Then we stopped at a ski area for dinner and sat on their deck for some hearty Slovakian specialties.  I had dumplings in some kind of cheesy cream sauce that I am sure will stick with me for several days.  It's too bad we didn't have more time to explore the mountains here - they really seem untouched for Europe.
