(S) As luck would have it we stumbled our way into Gourdon. We were on our way to Grasse for olfactory satisfaction (google it folks - they make perfume there) and through the fog I spotted Gourdon. Or more accurately, I had no idea what town was appearing as if from a dream in the fog high up in the mountains. I tried to find it on the map, but the same people that populate the French military must make their maps. We ended up reading it on the sign as we drove into town.

The good people of Gourdon seemed to be having some sort of festival, and we meandered among them in the fog, enjoying the views. Even the dogs. I'm sure Chad will be sharing some of the classic pug porn pics with you.

(C) How do we GET up there is all we could wonder On the terrace at Gourdon

.  I think it is up this road, I said.  Straight up the cliffs we went, past giant waterfalls, we parked and walked, but the canyon was so narrow you couldn't look up or down , just straight across, and the road so narrow it just teases you with dramatic sights of the falls, but offers no place to actually stop and look.  In the United States, at say, YELLOWSTONE, cars would be jammed for miles trying to park along the road and walk around.  But in this place, nobody seemed to notice the scenery.  Gourdon really was a treasure off the beaten path and offered a most amazing view of the entire Cote d'Azur, from Cannes to Nice, along with a Disneyworld town with lots of little alleys, shops and plastic toys shaped like Jack Chirac.  Obviously, the dogs too were French, and unimpressed with the surroundings...
