Easter Sunday on the Cote d'Azur

(S) We are proof holidays can be celebrated even when you're thousands of miles from home and completely out of your element.
Since French is not my first, second, or any language, I really wanted to find a church with Easter Sunday services in English. What we found was St. Pauls Anglican Church in Monte Carlo. And it was perfect. Monoco is full of retired and vacationing Brits and this church is theirs. They welcomed us with open arms, with the chaplain even thinking Chad was English. The service was wonderful and a perfect beginning to our Easter in the south of France. Once back home in our little apartment, we starting preparing our picnic - fried chicken, broccoli salad, French baguette (what else), fresh strawberries, and of course wine. Below our house was a park and we found an empty table overlooking the ocean - literally steps from our apartment. We ate, drank, and enjoyed our Easter - one of the best I've ever had.
(C) Sara got an Easter basket this morning, French style. Chocolates and a loaf of bread. Sorry we didn't have an easter egg hunt, but really, it wouldn't have been much fun in our tiny apartment! Church this morning was so great - mostly because people actually asked how we were and wanted to know what we do. This seems odd after living among the French and Italians for several months. The brits seem so, dare I say it, warm?! More thumbnails ...
