(C) So we left Camping Nostalgie, with some regret we couldn't stay longer, but the Turquoise Coast beckoned.  We have a picture on the front of our Rough Guide that shows a beach near Kas that is calling our names.  AND we must stop at Chimaera to see the birthplace of the Hephaestus mythology.  There is a place in southern Turkey where natural gas flows out of the ground and is permanently burning in the rocks.  The ancient Greeks built a temple here and it's time to go see this.
We drove through Antalya which surprised me in its relatively small size and coherent traffic patterns.  It was easy to get through and we easily found a grocery store to stock up on supplies.  Toothpaste and whatnot.  Then on to Chimaera for a hike up the mountain.
Chimaera is really one of the cool places to visit in Turkey.  It's a long way off the main road and a helluva hike up the mountain (read about 1500 kill me stairs), but it's worth it.  The scene of a hillside of rocks on fire is fun - even for a middle school boy - or me in this case.  I spent an hour trying to relight old holes by digging out the duff and holding a burning stick to them.  Great success.  We had the place to ourselves and it was great fun.
Then on to Kas which is a really nice, small town on the Med.  The campground is in a fantastic location right on the water.  Our camping is just up the hill and the cafe looked out on the bay.  The facilities aren't top notch, ie there may be wildlife in the showers, but the setting is really awesome.

(S) What he left out is he fell down as we crawled around the old Byzantine chapel built next to the flames. And nearly cracked his head open. He's old. And clutzy.
