Our next destination was originally going to be Rothenburg, but our bus into Nuremburg arrived late in the evening so we decided to use it as our base. We had a brochure for the city's only hostel, so finding it was a breeze. Our room was a 10 bedroom dorm with no lock on the door, we felt very saf! This was the first place where locals staying in the hostel out numbered backpackers. We were actually a minority being english speaking. The next day we headed off for our day trip to Rothenburg. It is a small midieval town quite similar to Cesky Krumlov. We walked around the wall and explored the town for the entire day. We visited the criminal museum that displayed many of the midieval punishment methods that were used in the town. Some were barbaric while others were hilarious, the shame masks for example. We stayed another night in Nuremburg so that we could visit a museum about the Nazi's rise to power and subsequent fall. Nuremburg was the stage of the Nazi rallies and has the only existing Nazi architecture left standing. The museum was extremely informative and eye opening, we're very glad we went. Germany has such an important history that we can learn a lot from.
