The past several day have been spent between immunizations, interviews to find out where i'll permanently be placed, and a lot of language classes. It's amazing how busy they have kept us... sure there's a bit of down time, but that's been used by most people to practice the language, or for reading and doing crosswords (like me).

I've been surprised by how easy Ukrainian has been so far. I expected Polish to help me with the language, but not this much. I end up tutoring other people, and honestly, that's probably been the best practice for me. However, the best part is understanding a lot of what the Ukrainians are saying to me or about me... and them not realizing it. It's like being that fly on the wall you've always wanted to be.

Our interviews have been to decide where we'll all finally be placed - on Tuesday!! I feel like I've been waiting for this news for months. The interviews asked us what part of the country we would be interested in serving in, which language we'd like to learn - Ukrainian or Russian, and what exactly it is we'd like to do at our sites. Well I'm not sure what I'll end up doing, but it looks like I'll be in the West near Poland, perhaps in the Carpathian mountains - and I told them I'd like to work with farmers, so we'll see.

It's been slightly stressful because some people were under the impressions that environment volunteers were going to have teach some english classes, and i have been very vehemently opposed to that, today, finally, i was guaranteed that I would not have to. I'll find out for sure on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning I move in with my host family. I can't wait to sit down and have some chai (tea) with my babycya that I may be living with. It's going to be great... and not just that... I won't be surrounded by what seems like sea of Americans. It's funny, it reminds me a lot of my freshman year of college - everyone travels in groups. I'm waiting for my pc RA to give me a flourecent rape whistle so I can stand out even more.
