We woke to very bright sunlight in the bedroom (thanks to extremely thin curtains). After a strange shower (which nearly filled the whole bathroom with water), we finished yesterday's baguette & hit the metro bound for Marche des Puces (flea market in Ouen). Although we found tons of incredible antique furniture (none of which we could get home), we found a set of 5 fabulous antique keys & some beautiful printing press letters (Esq.). Finally, we attempted to bring the price of another key down (I wanted to make a necklace out of it) and were insulted by a very rude old French man. With our flea market finds in hand, or rather in purse, we hopped back on the metro & made our way to the Moulin Rouge. After grabbing 2 hot dog fromages (in baguettes), we wandered through the streets of Montmarte (Abesses, Sacre Couer, Place du Tertre) & saw exactly why people fall in love with the romantic & bohemian Montmarte. We wound through cobblestone streets, tree lined avenues & stairways between old stone buildings and stopped along the way for chocolat chaud, ice cream & loads of ambiance at an adorable cafe. We also stopped to enjoy a beer at a sidewalk cafe. After stopping off at the apartment (and washing some clothes in a frustratingly inefficient French washer/dryer), we bought a baguette (Paris' best of 2010), some jambon, et fromage and enjoyed a quiet dinner at the apartment.
