After a lovely night's sleep in a king size bed, we had delicious "Parisien Sandwichs" at the train station's boulangerie! What a delightful way to start the day! And we're off... on a train bound for Gare du Nord... along the way a French woman (with a wonderful voice) asked for the train car's attention, then sang two songs for us. Mark was unamused when I tipped her as she walked by with her change purse open (something about a sucker... not too sure). We arrived at Gare du Nord, activated our Eurail passes, booked our trip to Stuttgart, and checked our backpacks into the Fort Knox of luggage lockers. With a few hours to spare before meeting at the apartment that we rented in Montmarte, we took a stroll & ended up at the Seine (all the Parisians were out walking, running, roller-blading & biking). Since it was well past lunch, we began to look for a cafe... thanks to what shall be called "Indecision 2011" we skipped lunch, picked up our backpacks, took two metro lines and found our way to the apartment. After getting settled, we had a fabulous late lunch at a French-speaking cafe. The waitress was wonderful and helped me with my French! We stopped off at the corner Boulangerie for a fresh baguette, tartin poire, & tartin aux fraises, then at a tiny local market for dinner supplies. Although Mark wanted to sleep through the night (it was around 7:30pm), we walked to Sacre Couer for scenic photos & memories.
