At 3am, we were both wide awake... I fear that day 3's nap has come back to haunt us! We stayed in bed talking until 4:30, then packed up & headed to the train station (by way of the metro). By 7:30 we're off on a TGV (high speed train) bound for Stuttgart! Mark is elated to be traveling at such a rapid pace (and to be headed to the land of fast cars, beer and sausages)! Despite my fears that we would spend 8+ hours reveling in the awesomeness of Porsche's history, we spend a brisk but thorough 2 hours at the Porsche museum. Mark took over camera duty and snapped more shots in those 2 hours than he'll likely take the rest of the trip. Back on the train, we made our way to Munich, checked in at the BW Cristal and set out on foot through the streets. The universe smiled on us once again, as we popped into Marienplatz just as the bells rang out from the Neues Rathaus & the statues began to rotate... the louder and livelier attraction, however, were the droves of football fans singing & toasting in the square (having apparently just won a match). With all of the street cafes brimming with fans, we made our way to the Hofbrauhaus for dinner. Inside, the building was beautiful, the beers enormous & frothy, the spaetzle delicious and the atmosphere enchanting. The oompa music was loud & upbeat, the waitresses were incredibly strong (carrying 4-10 liters at a time) and the patrons were increasingly cheerful. We walked back to the hotel with huge smiles, from ear to ear.
