We decided to visit the famous island of Bali, since we were in the neighborhood (compared to at home)! Two plane tickets and a 3 hour ride from KL put us in the capital Denpasar for the next 3 weeks.

Bali is an Indonesian island located at the western most of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east (see the map above). With a population recorded about 3 million, the island is home to the vast majority of Indonesia's small Hindu minority. 93% of Bali's population adheres to Balinese Hinduism, while most of the remainder follow Islam. It is also the largest tourist destination in the country and is renowned for its highly developed arts, including dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking, music and surfing! The island is surrounded by coral reefs. Beaches in the south tend to have white or light brown sand while those in the north and west have black sand.

We are moving from town to town (beach to beach) see the people and places. Stayed in some nice hotels with great pools and gardens around them. The local boats are very colorful and the number one game the local's play is chess! Gave it a try on the beach.

We also took a day trip to the mountains and towns in the north of the island and saw rice fields, stone works and a volcano which last erupted in about 1970.
