We made our way the 3 1/2 hour bus ride to the center (CBD) of the countries biggest city Sydney. As of 2010, the greater metropolitan area had an approximate population of 4.6 million people.

The site of the first British colony in Australia, Sydney was established in 1788 at Sydney Cove by Arthur Phillip. The city is built on hills surrounding Sydney Harbour, where the iconic Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge feature prominently. These are all features in the pictures below. Sydney's Central Business District (CBD) extends southwards for about 3 kilometres (2 mi) from Sydney Cove to the area around Central station. The Sydney CBD is bounded on the east side by a chain of parkland, and the west by Darling Harbour, a tourist and nightlife precinct.

The city is known for its more contemporary architecture the Sydney Opera House, designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon. Described as an "artistic monument", it is one of the most recognisable landmarks in both Sydney and Australia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When we were there many people from around the world were stopping and taking pictures of the building as you can see from my photo's all have other people in them.
