We needed to move south, closer to the airport at Trivandrum for our trip to Mumbai. So we picked Kovalam which is only 30 minutes away via taxi.

Kovalam was one of the early European beach get-aways starting in the 1930's, but became a hot spot during the late1960-1970's as a "hippie" beach. Those days are long gone, with now Europeans spending the winter here and middle class India's visit for their holidays.

We had a great hotel, with a pool overlooking the ocean and great fresh seafood. Check out the size of that prawn in the picture! One was enough for dinner.
