We liked the size of this small city and loved the large fort built in 1156 by the Bhati Rajput ruler Jaisal, Jaisalmer Fort is situated on Trikuta Hill and had been the scene of many battles. Its massive sandstone walls are a tawny lion color during the day, turning to a magical honey-gold as the sun sets. It is now filled with many shops and street action happening all the time.
The days were nice about 65F (18C) and when the sun went down the temperatures went down to about 45F (7C) or less.
During our drive we stopped at a lake in the desert to watch some Siberian cranes, which make there home here in India during the winter. Check-out the short video!
