After a longish morning of walking around we search for a vegetarian burger bar for Heather that was recommended in the Rough Guide. Unfortunately when we did find it was closed; being in the middle of a bar district it was obviously an open late establishment and judging by the amount deposited around the outside of the place it must not have been shut to long, nor have tasted that great!
The upside was that on walking back to the main centre we came across a nice little bar/cafe selling breakfast platters and unlimited coffee, this was more like it. Good music, plentiful food and free coffee! Very stylish too!
The following day we boarded our train for Russia, on greeting the ticket attendant, a stout man with XL size hat (a common feature of Russia), he took our tickets and placed them in his pocket telling us to get on. Already nervous at the prospect of Russia the attendant came along in the train once we were moving and asked for our passports before disappearing for a considerably nervous amount of time! Our passports, the only thing that would stop us from travelling were no longer in our possession! Our nerves calmed slightly as a trolley dolly came along and handed us a beer and some nuts, and soon the attendant, having removed scary hat and coat, returned to us both our passports and tickets!
A couple of hours later and we had neared the Finnish-Russian border and once again are passports were taken. This time on return came along the customs official and on Heather being handed back her passport she politely responded "Spaceeba!" (russian for thank you) but quick as a flash the customs officail replied "I'm finnish!" and promptly carried on obviously offended!
