Having been city slicking for a while in Saigon, we decided it was about time we head to the beach again as Paul was looking decidedly white (you wouldn't have thought he'd spent the last five weeks in plus 30 degrees!!). We read about Phu Quoc in Lonely Planet (where else?!) and it sounded like paradise, we got a flight (yes no sweaty buses this time) for $60 which wasn't too bad and it was certainly worth it! We arrived at the airport not having booked any accommodation and was lucky enough to end up at 'The Beach Club' which was a tiny place with only 10 bungalows and the best stretch of beach on the island. The place was owned by a British guy so it was clean and friendly, we stayed for four nights annd didn't leave the resort once, only to stroll up and down the beach to check out the other resorts which, for the record, weren't nearly as nice as ours - one had a lovely collection of tacky plaster animals on the beach! Anyway we sunbathed, swam, ate, drank and played cards for lack of anything else to do - we weren't complaining! Check out the photos!
