About our drive back to Canada
Entry 2 of 120 | show all | print this entry |
After 3 solid days of driving, we arrived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but not without a major challenge. Lesson learned: ALWAYS travel with your vehicle title when you're traveling cross-border with your vehicle, especially when you're moving out of the country.
We got to spend a nerve-racking 3 hours at the US/Canada border south of Vancouver, Tuesday night, as we tried to find a way to present our absent vehicle title to the border officials. The title was sitting in our filing cabinet in California, but luckily the Canadian border official was nice enough to accept a faxed copy. We contacted our awsome tenant (who hadn't even moved in yet), and she agreed to stop what she was doing, drive to our house, dig out the title, drive back, and fax it to us. Thanks to her, we were across the border in no time. Thanks Hope!
We're now getting "settled in" here in Canada, and taking care of final travel arrangements. We depart for Japan on Monday, April 3.
