After arriving in Hanoi we went about organizing what to do here. A visit to Ha long Bay and a trip up to Sapa to climb Mt Fansipan were high on the agenda.
First we headed out to Ha long Bay, Halong bay in the evening

where we had booked a couple of days on board an old Chinese Junk. The boat was really cool, just like something out of a film set. The food was amazing and as there was only five of us on board it was really relaxing... Our overnight accomadation

just the ticket before we headed up to Sapa (which is a really cool little town) and our three day climb of Mt. Fansipan which is the highest mountain in indo-china.
It was tough going at times, Climbing Fansipan

and I'd like to be able to say it was worth it but when we reached the top all we could see was cloud!(we were hoping for China, Laos and Vietnam) But we had the craic and I guess its good to say you've done it. Water pupet show 3

Then back down to Hanoi again but before heading off on the train for Beijing we had a couple of days to go to a water puppet show, which was good, grab a few more souvenirs
and drink one or two 10cent beers along the street and take in the city... 10 cent a beer!!
