Loud snoring coming from the first floor that sounded very strange. I went up to investigate and found the window of the room where it was coming from and rattled on it but it didn't seem to do the trick. I had heard other people up and about to see where the noise was coming from so whoever it was, was waking up the whole hotel. I went back to bed and put my earplugs in and slept right through till 7am. Got up and had breakfast and said goodbye to the Irish women who was on her way to the National Park to see tigers with two other people. An Ozzy woman came over about 15 minutes later and mentioned about if I was going to the same National Park to which I replied that I wasn't and mentioned about the Irish women just leaving about 15 minutes ago. She and her two teen children were planning to go but had heard that they wouldn't see any tigers. As they were Australian I mentioned about the Ashes score which they hadn't heard and it didn't go down to well. I went out and found the latest score from the internet place next door and knocked on their door and told them. England were doing well in the second test, at last!
I checked out of the hotel and took an auto rickshaw to the bus station where I was told that the 11/15am bus back to Jhansi was now due to leave at 12.30pm due to a breakdown on the way over. Great. I got talking to a Belgian woman from Antwerp and whilst we were chatting a bus pulled in at 11am but we wandered why we were told it wasn't going until 12.30pm. Another bus was due to go at 1pm but this was cancelled due to the breakdown of the other bus so they combined the two services into one to accommodate both services (and of course 2 lots of passengers? Hmmm don't think so). We got on the bus at noon and got seats as it soon filled up. A Mexican called Rodriguez sat down next to me and we chatted all the way about all kinds of things all the way which always helps to pass the time. The journey took 5 hours after we stopped twice for 30 minutes apiece and of course I arrived in Jhansi in the dark which I'm not too keen on. Rodriguez and the Belgian woman had got off at the Orchha junction. I took an auto rickshaw to a hotel on Station Road called the Hotel Dreamland but there was nothing dreamy about it. The first room they showed mer at Rs350 was dire so I asked for a better one which was better but kinds strange. Weird room with a front room where the bed was and then a similar sized area behind that was empty and then a door leading to a large room that contained just the sink and then another door that lead into the bathroom/toilet. Had a cattle shed feel to it with thick stone walls. It had a TV which is always a bonus. I ate down the road and on the way back noticed a building with a sign saying "Saki Bar" so I went in to investigate as the word Bar sprang out at me. And indeed, it was a bar, complete with a bar counter with a row of scotch, gin and vodka bottles, tables and chairs and a quieter area to the right with a few more tables and chairs. This is the first bar I've seen since being in India - 29 days. I ordered a large 650ml bottle of Kingfisher for just Rs60 (70p) from the menu that also listed about 20 different types of Scotches, as well as rum's, gins, beers and vodkas. It went down very well and I headed back to the hotel, killed a cockroach by the door and settled down to watch the Everton Vs West Ham games on ESPN.
