Woke up at 6am but dozed off and got up at 8.15am. I had breakfast with the Irish woman next door and a Serbian guy now living in Canada who was staying at the Fort View in Orchha. I left after chatting to them for a while and headed into the western group of temples where I bumped into the German couple and Italian guy who were on the bus yesterday. The temples are beautifully decorated in sandstone as you can see from the photo's and date from between the 9th and 11th centuries. The whole complex is beautifully well kept with manicured lawns and lovely purple and burgundy flowering bushes. I spent about 2 hours walking around before heading to the museum across the road but it was shut today. Still, I'd seen plenty of stone carvings to last me a lifetime.
I decided to hire a cycle as the area is dead flat like most of northern India before you reach the Himalayas
Then went to the Jain temples that are located in the eastern part of the town. The first one was large with a courtyard and was mostly modern painted yellow and had old bits of stonework mixed in with the new so that you got some idea as to what it would have looked like. There were also two original temples nearby that were similar to the one in the eastern group. I then cycled down to the last temple near a dried up river but when I got on my bike, the back tyre was flat. A young lad helped me out by taking me to a guy in his 50's who repaired the puncture for me whilst I visited the temple. I said to the young lad about a sketch on Monty Python about everyone dressed up as Superman whilst Michael Palin (yes him again, although I'm not sure if it was him or not) was a normal guy who repaired bicycle. He was know as Bicycle repair man. The young lad laughed and I said it was our English sense of humor. After visiting the temple, which was about the same as all the rest, we walked back to him where he was just inserting the inner tube back into the tyre. He then pumped it up and I gave him Rs20 for his trouble and shook his hand and said thanks in Hindi.
I rode back to the place where I hired the cycle from and then walked back to the hotel and slept a bit. I wasn't feeling very hungry when I woke up so just went on the internet before heading back to the hotel. I checked to see if the Irish lady's lights were on next door but they weren't but she returned a few minutes later so I popped my head around her door. I asked her what national park she was visiting as there was one fairly close to Khajuraho and I had a free day tomorrow. She said that the one she was going to was over 300km away so it wasn't the one I had in mind. We talked about what we had both been up to during the day. She had spent the hole day at the western temples and was going to visit the eastern ones tomorrow. I said goodnight and went to bed.

Bicycle repair man!
. I rode north out of the town to a Tribal art museum. The guy in charge had to turn on the lights and unlock doors so I don't think they get many visitors and I can see why. It was fairly small and not all that interesting. Then I went into the old village of Khajuraho where a young guy popped out of nowhere and started to show me around. He pointed out about the different building that relate to different castes (similar to classes back home). Kids were being washed in the street whilst cow dung was being applied to the pavement outside in order to keep away mosquito's. Young girls were picking up fairly fresh cow dung with their hands where it's then dried against a wall in the sun and used for fuel. I then had lunch which consisted of a slice of apple pie from a German Bakery and bought 2 cartons of juice and sat in the hotel garden to consume them. Then I went to the bus station where they have an office to book trains but I tired to book the overnight train I wanted from Jhansi to Lucknow for Sunday but was denied as it was full so I ended up booking one during the day on Monday at 1.30pm to get in at 8pm. This meant that I had an extra day to spend than scheduled in Khajuraho. I didn't mind as the hotel was nice. I also booked a train from Lucknow to Allahabad on the 6th. I inquired about what time the bus leaves to go back to Jhansi and was told 11.15am and that it was a "deluxe" bus. This is the double-back on myself part of my trip in order to see Lucknow and Allahabad before reaching Varanasi
Eastern group 1
. Most people don't bother with these two cities and just head straight for Varanasi - a grueling 12 hour bus ride away. Not for me.Then went to the Jain temples that are located in the eastern part of the town.
