Our first day was spent discovering the main attractions, as we were amazed at the beauty from a city that has only recently come out from an oppressive government. The places were simply incredible in both size and design. The Hermitage now is one of the largest galleries of fine art in the world.

Moving on, we met our wonderful guide Miyrna every day and she whisked us on a three day tour of the palaces, cathedrals and sites of the city. The most amazing of our days was the Peterhof Palace with its waterfalls and water shows which is an engineering marvel of its time (17th century)
