We are both feeling the results of walking all over Rio yesterday. I was kind of slow getting up and out this morning. I suddenly realized we've been here for two days and have yet to send out any journal entries to our online travelpod, so while I looked over the maps and got an idea where we would be off to today for more adventure, Anita finished up more entries and I downloaded pictures to my memory key. Last night on our way back from eating, we spotted an Internet café and found the price per hour much better than using the service at our hotel. So we headed out this morning to find the café and signed up to use the computer for an hour. After uploading three journal entries and about 50 photos, and both of us checking our email, I wanted to check the financial markets back home. By this time we had spent nearly 2 hours at the Internet café. The great thing is that it only cost us 11 Reals - that's $5.50 US. Not bad. This Internet café thing is the best for us when traveling out of the country, and it gives us the opportunity to hang out with other travelers and locals using the internet.

By the time we finished it was well past breakfast time, so we decided to find an eatery near Copacabana Beach to have lunch. After strolling the busy streets, we stumbled upon Savana Restaurant. We were whisked in the door, shown our table and told to head over to the lunch bar and choose whatever we wanted and that we would be charged by the weight of our plate. Interesting. With that knowledge, we didn't pile our plates high, as we would at home. But instead opted to try some of the local foods, had our plates weighed and then sat down to enjoy the meal. Delicious! Beans and rice, sliced ham, filet mignon wrapped with bacon, salad, vegetables, sausages, fresh fruit, and yes, sushi. Very filling, and only 29 Reals - about $15 US.

Next we walked along the beach, enjoying the many characters who passed us by. Rather than join the sweaty bodies on the beach, we decided to touch up our tans at poolside atop Le Meridien Hotel. Then a brief nap and off to dinner at Capricciosa for wine and pizza.

Tomorrow, who knows. Perhaps a visit to a museum. Perhaps a stroll through the Botanical Gardens. We're not sure yet. But stay tuned. We'll keep you posted.

Re: Hot in Herre
Girl, you are so crazy. Leave it to you to come up with a song for that picture. Yes, it is mucho caliente here. Love it though. Wish you and Luis were here with us. You would have so much fun. I have no idea why they call it Sugarloaf, but it sure is big. We leave tomorrow. So stay tuned for our last journal entry.

Love you,
Globetrotters (Michael and Anita)
