So off to the airport we went
. Anita's mom drove us to the MARTA station. We rode the MARTA to the airport. Ran into a little trouble trying to check in for our international flight at the domestic kiosk. DUH! Once we finally got it straight check-in was quick and easy. We're so happy we got all our stuff into 2 bags - one each. It doesn't even feel like we're traveling out of the country. We're very casual about it. Maybe it's because we're only staying for one week. But still, we're excited about going to Rio de Janeiro, where we're expecting 80-degree weather the entire time.
The 9-hour flight was pretty uneventful. A light dinner while watching the movie "Chronicles of Narnia" (glad we didn't spend our money on that one at the theatre). Then a little sleeping in our exit-row seats. And before we knew it, they were serving continental breakfast and informing us that we were beginning our initial approach into Rio. That was fast.
Well, we're off on another international trip. We spent the day running last-minute errands and confirming everything - flight, hotel, etc. Everything's set and we're ready to go to Rio de Janeiro. Thank goodness Anita's passport finally arrived. We were down to the wire with that one. She sent it off six weeks early to the Consular General in Miami to get the visa stamp, but mistakenly forgot to include a copy of our flight itinerary (as instructed). I won't blast her for that one again. They returned it without the visa and she had to send it off again, with less than ten days before our departure. So our faith was kicked up a notch that it would arrive on time for this trip. If it didn't we would have to cancel the whole thing and basically ruin my dream birthday trip. But we put that thought out of our minds and just believed that it would arrive on time. And sure enough, it got here on Saturday - two days before our departure. Whew! That was a close call.
