After weeks and days of anticipation, we finally got on the road to DC. We've spent hours upon hours trying to determine what we would do in DC, where we would go, whether we could get tickets to any events, did we want to pay to play (a minimum of $100 per person for any event), where we would stay, and how we would get around. It would make sense to have answers to all of these questions before leaving, but we didn't.
At most, we know where we're staying -- at Anita's cousin's home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, located in Prince George's County, about a 45-minute drive from the District.
Other than our accommodations, I have a little surprise for Anita. I'm always up for a surprise, and Anita is always willing to go along without asking any questions, so that makes it fun. As we began packing, I mentioned to her that she should bring an evening dress, just in case we should find ourselves with tickets to some swanky event. She happily complied. That was easy!
So, we've got our bags packed, our anticipation is on high alert, we're in full expectation of some great things, and we're glad to be able to experience this historic occasion.
