It's time for another birthday trip. It seems we just returned from our Central America cruise, a surprise for my birthday in January, and here we are ready to go again! As usual, Michael wants to stay true to his promise to himself of taking a trip outside of the U.S. for his birthday. Last year, we traveled to Montreal, Quebec Canada. The year before that it was Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. So, after reviewing several options from Michael's "1,000 places to visit while I'm alive" list -- Tahiti, Southern Caribbean, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and others -- we decided on Bermuda.
This will be my first time and Michael's second time in this British island. We will be staying at 9 Beaches Resort, a relatively new venue that we heard about on the Travel Channel. From the time we heard about it, we knew we would one day go there to experience the tented cabanas extended over the ocean on wooden stilts. From our research, we've learned that there is lots to do and see in Bermuda, and we're determined to do as much as we can while there. But for now, we enjoy what Michael always says is the best part of the trip -- the anticipation. We're gearing up to make certain we pack the appropriate clothes and bring all of the items we will need. We'll keep you posted as the trip unfolds.

My wife and I went last year and will be back again in 2008. If you like the great outdoor and are a more adventurist type you should have a great time. It's not like all those fancy Bermuda hotels - 9 Beaches is really down to earth and different.
Pray for rain one night. It's very romantic! And leave your jacket and tie at home.
