Helsinki from Tallinn is only 3 hours by slow ferry and 1.5 hours by fast ferry. In fact many Finn's visit Estonia for just a day for the cheap alcohol and the more relaxed atmosphere.

I was warned that Helsinki would be expensive, however I found that around 30-40 euro a day was more than enough. I had really not wanted to visit any more museums or art galleries. So walking around the city was just as pleasurable.

The public transport in Finland is the easiest to understand in my opinion. I was able to work out how to get from the ferry terminal to my hostel in about 3 minutes (I needed to get a bus and then a tram) and there are generous discounts if you buy 3 and 5 day transport passes as well as tourist passes.

Off the coast of Helsinki is Suomenlinna Island. This island is referred to as a "Sea fortress" as it was used by the Russians during soviet times as a strategic location to protect Finland (when it was under Soviet control of course).

The island is only 15 minutes from the mainland, and well worth the visit. The one of the main squares was the location of a free rock concert during my stay as well, which was interesting.

The architecture in Finland is amazing. Many of the buildings within the capital city look like miniature castles.
