We started early this morning by walking down to the ferry pier to catch the fast boat to Sihanoukville (nicknamed "Snookyville").

We caught up with our Hungarian buddies (Attila & Timmy) from the day before and swapped stories about who got the most sea sick (it would be a competition between Glenn and Attila). However being a "fast boat", we all convinced ourselves that this would not happen. The boat itself looked a bit more like a rusty submarine than a boat, but as long as it got us to Snooky that was okay.

On the boat Attila and Timmy kept us entertained with their travel stories and we also had a little Cambodian girl sitting in front of us, very inquisitive and very bored as her mum slept beside her. She was very shy and just kept peeking through the seats at first trying to catch our eye Serendipity Beach, Snookyville (1)

. Eventually she started sticking her fingers through the seats before jumping up to give us a beaming smile. She was a gorgeous child with the most beautiful smile so we just had to pull out the camera. This picked up her confidence a bit and it wasn't long before she was jumping over the seats to play wih us.

On arriving in Snooky, all of our stomachs still in place (just), we had yet another immigration check to go through. Luckily this one did not cost us anything and we were on our way without too much trouble, until we had to arrange a taxi into town. We had agreed to share a taxi with Attila and Timmy, however the moto-dops (motor bike taxis - yes you basically just jump on the back of a motor bike) were trying to convince us that we could fit us and our huge packs on the back. Having settled on the fact that we would definitely need to catch a taxi we had to negotiate the fare, which wasn't easy, and we ended up paying a bit more that we had hoped.

The taxi driver (and his "brother" - read tout) of course tried to get us to stay at their favourite guesthouse, but we wanted to stay in a different area so we ditched them and ended up walking to another place where we managed to get a cute little wooden bungalow near the beach. Unfortunately the bungalow was also fairly open so that meant we had to contend with alot of mossies, not really good in a malarial area Serendipity Beach, Snookyville (2)

After settling in we decided to head to the beach. Snookyville is supposed to be "like Thailand 20 years ago". Though the beaches definately do not rival Thailand, the area is much more relaxed and less developed than Thailand which is nice, however it's obviously not going to stay that way for much longer with lots of new development and western restaurants popping up everywhere. We are glad we saw it now.

The next day we had our first experience on a moto-dop, with both of us on the back putting around Snooky - must have looked pretty funny, but it really wasn't all that bad.

Other than the beaches, we felt that there really wasn't all that much to do here, and after spending plenty of time on the beach in Koh Chang we decided to move on the following day.
