Alright it is time to start considering getting nostalgic. My heart is beating faster thinking about New York being two days away. Is it time to start saying my thank you's? To think about flights and applications? To consider just riding on, this time into the sunset instead of away from it? Or just head south, follow my natural migration instincts. I hear the Caribbean is excellent just after hurricane season.

It is time also to think about what I deserve, want, and need to earn. I didn't deserve this trip, maybe I wanted and earned it, but I didn't deserve it. I can't think of many people who have had the luxury that I have of a summer vacation after school is over, but I can't think of anyone who wouldn't take it if offered in a heartbeat, either. Summer '13 baby, it's been real.

Today I left Boston hungover with three hours of sleep on an already hot morning. I am not complaining, the day was beautiful and I'm sure I sweated out any remaining toxins. Highway 138, the second I've encountered in my trip with the previous being the King's road in Quebec, treated me very well with a large shoulder and good pavement. Lunch was at a very local diner in MA, then I crossed into Rhode Island to my host's home.

They are an older couple, both women who come from previous marriages, Mary is 81 and Sondra is 61. Sondra came home late, so Mary and I ordered pizza and watched television while talking about bike touring, the Boston bombings, and her family. She still bikes to work. We had a good time; you can learn a lot from old folks.

You have much to be thankful for, and just as much to be proud of. What an accomplishment. We love you with all our hearts.

Glad to hear we're still able to impart some wisdom!!
Not surprised to hear you attempted the bridge, did you ride over the 2nd one, or did the RITBA give you a lift over both?
Hope the rest of your travels are great, enjoyed having you here.

Your blog intrigued me. Very well kept up and informative. I probably missed this explanation, but when you speak of "hosts" you are staying with, are you referring to Couchsurfing or a related design? Thanks again for the morning entertainment.
