Koocanusa is similar to Tahoe in foliage and water hue, and thus was a little reminder of home. After listening to a couple of Queens of the Stone Age albums, I arrived in Rexford MT before I knew it. We had arranged to stay there, but I arrived shortly after 2pm, far too early to quit on a full day. After Rob rode in, we agreed it would be best to push it in order to position ourselves for tomorrow. Another 30 miles and we found ourselves in Fortine MT, pop. around 100. They do have a free campsite along the river through town, which happens to be a great swimming hole
I've created an acronym, my most productive construction over the last ten days. ACB stands for Adventure Cycling Bullshit. Occasionally my maps leads off the highways onto lesser travelled country roads, which is generally a good thing. However, I even further occasionally encounter a route which makes me think they (the adventure cycling map people) rerouted just for the hell of it. Example: today highway 93E had served me well, wide shoulder, low traffic. The map led me off onto an old highway that was nothing but hills, and ten miles of the road was gravel. If you hear the acronym in the future, now you know what it means, though may it never come up again.
