After the rain Rio is hot and sunny and it is time to do the major sights. It is Carnival weekend so the city is packed.
Lucky there is no cloud on Corvodao so the statue is visible. In June it was cloudy. A bit misty so no postcard standard pictures.
Saturday it is off to the beaches but they were absolutely packed wall to wall bodies. Impossible to see the sand or the water. So we sat in the shade and drank cold beer. Pretty much like everyone else.
In the evening the locals of Catete had their block party and there was samba in the streets with everyone wearing some kind of Carnival costume.
Sunday it is off to the Sambadrome for the samba schools parades. Each school had about 4000 people on parade, all ages take part, you cannot tell what is under that costume. They must have been so hot.
The post parade wreckage had to be seen most of it is thrown away! But what do you do with a carnival costume? You really can't keep them. I think they recycle the feathers.
The parade goes on all night.
Last day in Rio and it is time to pack, take a last quick look at the city and then the final trip up the Sugar Loaf for sunset and watch Rio light up.
God rested on the seventh day but secretly he made Rio.....or so they say.
