I definitely owe Bangkok an apology - I was not looking forward to it and would have skipped it if possible, but as it turns out I really liked it - so you live and learn

First impressions were not good coming into town it looked like a large hot but down at the heel city, but on arrival in the centre things began to look up . Our hostel, cheap and defiantly pretty basic, was right next to the Khoasan Road and walking distance to the Royal Palace.

We arrived in the middle of the day and went on a dress fabric hunt - we started off with 2 tuk tuks but ended up with 5 of us in one tuk tuk and a great driver who raced around all the dressmakers looking for the elusive fabric - which was in the end found almost next to the hostel - Typical you will say!

We did of course do the  round of the Palace and the Wats.. they were beautiful. It was a Buddha kind of day there are thousands of them in Bangkok, my favourite being the Emerald Buddha - he gets 3 changes of clothes a year.

The whole place was jammed with people from all around the world being nice to each other a true party atmosphere - I have never been kissed and hugged so much in such a short time well there were 40 of us there.

So Happy New Year.

On New Years Day we gave the feet a rest and took a longtailed boat for a
trip around the Bangkok Canal - you would normally see the floating
market but as it was New Year they had all taken the day
