Overnight a miracle occurred and the winds died. So this morning not only were we greeted with nearly flat conditions, but also a red solar ball we had not seen for a week. I have to say it was one of the most miraculous weather changes I have witnessed.
But instead of making ready for sea, we again find ourselves weather delayed. It seems the 0630 weather brief contained advise that if we left today we would be routed due east to the New Jersey coast and then up to RI. This would add up to 50% more to our route. The captains discussed this and the consensus was to take the advise of the weather router and leave (for sure) Wednesday. One vessel, Imagine headed to see. Its owner, a doctor, felt the conditions were safe enough and he was going to try to steer the rumb line (straight line) to Rhode Island. So by 1000 today, he was making way out of the harbor
Personally, I feel like our router is untra conservative and will not be surprised if Wednesday morning finds us with more info stating that Friday would be "a better ride". To me, I dont expect a better ride. I just want a safe ride, but I am crew not captain and Wednesday it is.
Aside from that, we had a great day. The weather was perfect. As I said, "the stuff dreams are made of".
We also got to see the Queen's Birthday festivities. Lots of Pomp and Circumstance.
Stay tuned.
