Two days of quiet time and personal space has done wonders...not to mention two days of 10+ hours sleep.  We are feeling re-charged and re-energized.  The mystery of last week's  flaky behavior still haunts us, but we have moved on.  In the case of go home or go on, we have clearly decided to go on.

We are very grateful to have had a second chance to join a potentially better vessel with a better crew.  While our former captn was laid back, no real plan, we will get there when we get there guy, our new Captain is more to our liking.  Jerry has a plan, will conduct safty drills (fire, man overboard, abandon ship, etc.) and has the vessel well organized.

Today (Saturday), we had confirmation that not only are we good to go on New Frontier, but that the fleet is now planning to leave Monday afternoon at 1600 (4pm).  The weather is slowly improving but will not be optimal.  While it may be rough the first two days, it is within the boundaries of safe and sane.   What is safe and sane?...easterly winds 15-20kts and 6-8 foot seas.  Without question, all the vessels are able to handle that and then some.  Its more a question of wear and tear on the vessels and the crew.   We will be heading north into the Gulf Stream until we pass the Grand Bahama bank and then turn further out to sea perhaps 200 miles on the rumb line to Bermuda.  After that turn, we expect seas to flatten and the ride improve.   The first 48 hours will test our ability to manage seasickness and manage our faculties.  This will be the hardest part...we think.

Today we had two calls from captain Jerry's wife Con.  We were told that the cook has been fired.   First he was sick...then very sick and had been seeing a doctor.  Then she called the doctor and the doctor said he had never heard of him.  With an obvious integrity problem, Con let him go fast.  She is no ones fool and made a good choice.   This story was "colorful", but lets just say we had a few ups and downs over this issue but its now resolved.  Sue and I move into his quarters.  Its a good berth.  We are all set.  Unlike Adventure, Sue is not cooking.  We will rotate cooking chores.

We were also told that one of New Frontier's two GPS/Radar units is down.  There had been much collaboration on the dock if this was acceptable.  After several meetings, Milt and Jerry decided that we had enough compensating safety factors that running with single radar/gps was acceptable.  We were good to go.

So tomorrow we head back to Ft Lauderdale to rejoin the group.  Lets hope Monday is good.  We are ready to go to sea.

What a tale the Knopps do weave
It's so interesting to read of your adventures and to see how truly adaptable you guys are. Many of us would have a hard time dealing with all the changes as well as you have. The fact that your quest for new experiences in life is so strong for both of you is testiment to how great a couple you are, great together! Hope the seas are not too rough and that you have hearty stomachs! Love, Joy
