Annapolis is a hard place not to like. Its a nautical city and built around boaters. While we found Newport RI to be terrific, we looked forward to a short stop in Annapolis on the way back. I don't think a boater can every say they have had enough of the place.
Last night, we had anchored in a beautiful, quiet anchorage toward to top of Chesapeake Bay. Our transit of Delaware bay and the C&D canal had been routine. Ahead was the Chesapeake. Last year, boating on the Chesapeake had looked challenging....now after New England, Maine, Cutty Hunk, open water crossings, pea soup fog, lobster traps and dodging ferries in New York Harbor it looked like a respite from some of the challenges we had faced this summer's cruise. As we watched the sunset at this anchorage we were reminded of just how beautiful the Chesapeake can be and ....NO ($45) MOORING BUOYS! Just drop an anchor and make a martini.
So we get into Annapolis in the early afternoon and enjoy the fine fall air and sun. Four more days on the water and its time to return to Scottsdale.
