What a change a couple days make.   Yesterday the promised cold front came through and the result...a perfect day on the water.  We took the am to walk the two miles into Cape May NJ and saw the fine victorian homes and B&Bs.  It was impressive.  Then a two mile walk back and we fired up "the dragon" about 1130 and were rolling out the Cape May inlet by noon.  A perfect day on the water followed.  Winds were <10kts with temps in low 80s....

By 1700 we were at the Atlantic City inlet.  This is an "all weather inlet" in that it should not be dangerous and we should be able to enter under any condtions.  This was true, but what a a ride...First Forty hit 11kts midway and I could feel the current weakening my control on the wheel.  We had not made specific plans on where to anchor and I could not see any good choice.  With the current running strong, I decided not go into the A.C. basin and also did not want to go deeper up the river as turning back would be difficult.  Then someone hit radio with a message about anchoring.  I came back, "break break for local information".  I was rewared with a captain from towboat US who gave us expert info...dead ahead was a little pond with a few temporary stakes marking the way through a tiny creek forward.  Then i saw the promised land...a sailboat was going in there ahead of me.   I followed and found 10' of water and in a few minutes we were in a great anchorage.   Its quiet and not crowded.  Thanks to Towboat US!
Tomorrow we head for Sandy Hook across from New York City.  It will be an 85 mile run and we plan to weigh anchor at 0630.  We hope for another good day.
