Welcome to our new trip our our vessel the 1999 Nordhavn 40 called "First Forty".
All of you who are still on the list have expressed an interest in keeping up with us. If you receive this and dont really want to get the emails, just let me know. I dont want to be sending unwanted mails. In general, the posts here will not be a frequent as when we did MedBound. More likely weekly or so.
BTW for those interested, the three MedBound vessels going to Horta in the Azores reached land today...safe and sound.
As I mentioned to a friend today, we have now left the "Yachting" life and rejoined the "boating" life and the reality of owning your own complicated vessel. We are stuck in the yard in Norfolk VA. The boat has been here since last Nov. There was a list of things to do which I dutifully gave the yard. But as it happens the work was not done as promised. When they finally completed the work yesterday, we had expected to pull out. So fully provisioned and after loading on 500 gals of diesel we are ready to hear north.! Not. As soon as I put it in reverse this am the bow thruster failed again. This was the main task given to the yard last year! This is a long story, but essentially the yard had not done what they said they would do.
Now I am wondering if the reason the boat was named "First Forty" was that the First Forty thousand of repairs is the hardest. Right. No, it has not been that bad but I am very frustrated today.
