A few weeks ago I visited the small country of San Marino. The second smallest country in the world. In the morning when I arrived the hilltop of the old town was shrouded in clouds and I couldn't see a thing! When I arrived it felt like I was stuck in a whiteout at the snow. I was feeling very annoyed with the weather for awhile, but pressed on and visited the first two (of three) towers. How glad I was then of the wind and the rain and the mist! Not only were there very few tourists about, but the atmosphere was spectacular and very fitting for what were once fortresses and prisons.
After the fortresses I took a detour and got lost in a forest (it was actually a park but seemed like a secluded forest when I got lost!). It was raining heavily and everything was glistening with water - quite beautiful but a bit eerie when you're on your own. By that time I was quite drenched despite having an umbrella
So after a quick lunch and a coffee (yes an espresso - I was too embarassed to ask for a cappucino after lunch) to warm me up the clouds cleared off and I visited the towers again. It was like visiting a whole different place - the sky was bright blue with clouds floating gently along, and the views were spectacular.
Amazing! Gianluca told me that the weather this year is very strange at them moment because usually it's summer and hot every day in May. However, for me it was exactly like Melbourne weather, changing virtually every minute. I think I've brought the weather with me from Melbourne!
