We begin our adventure in Limerick, Ireland...(home of Frank McCourt..'Angela's Ashes').
After almost missing my flight because of gridlock traffic on the Jersey Turnpike (arrived 1 hour before an international flight...45 min is the cut off, and had to be escorted!), alot of north Atlantic turbulence and getting diverted to Dublin Airport to wait for the fog at Shannon to clear (very typical I hear)...I FINALLY made it to Limerick and saw Sarah for the first time in months!
My very 1st meal in Ireland....no lie!
My 1st pint (of many!) in Ireland at Stables (the on-campus pub)

The Cliffs of Moher....AMAZING! (also amazing was the tomatoe & onion tartlett at the new cliff-top cafe/museum)

Dolan's Pub on the dock in Limerick City for 'Trad Night' (Traditional Irish Music) (also the best Irish Stew...whoever said that the food in Ireland sucks..they lied!) Above is the 'propper session' we sat in on that night...click on the arrow to hear them play - WARNING: there is poor lighting & the audio is almost 5 minutes long!
The Lame Duck -cool little pub located in a tiny farm house, about a 2 mile hike down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere! Sorry, we never quite made it there...
...ended up taxiing with Sarah's flatmates to the local dive nite club,...'The Lodge' Beleive me, the US knew what it was doing when it raised the drinking age to 21! (It also didn't help thet I was twice the age of the oldest person in this place.)

Early Saturday morning in the city at the 'Milk Market' (getting some supplies for tonite's party...Brie, Berries, Spinach, Artichokes, Feta, Peppers, Baguettes, Hummus, Fudge...)

Final house party..(.'Fancy Party'?)...saying goodbye to Limerick! (once again, twice their age)

Our last night in Limerick was fitting to the entire experience... ...after getting home @ 2am, we were awakened by the fire alarm at 5am. Sarah said not to worry, it happens all the time (college dorms), but when I opened the hall door, it was full of smoke - no way out! So I ran back to our room & sent Sarah OUT THE WINDOW (thankfully she lives in a first floor apartment!), then proceded to hand her ALL our belongings... there was no way this 'little setback' was gonna keep us from our travels. After getting all our stuff out, banging on her roomate Melissa's door - I followed out the window. There we stood- barely dressed, half awake, in the pouring rain, with all our stuff sitting in the mud...only to find Melissa come around the back & tell us that a group of drunken Irish lads had emptied all the fire extinguishers throughout the buildings corridors, stairwells, and elevators, thus all the 'smoke'... farewell Limerick!
