We woke up in Dubrovnik. Beautiful, sorry I missed the approach.

We were signed up for a sea kayaking tour which began at the gate of the walled city.  It was very windy, and we felt every bit of it. It was only the third time we kayaked. It was really difficult and we got on each other's last nerve but once we arrived to our destination all was forgotten. It was a seacave with a huge giant skylight God had put in at just the right spot.    The water was breath suckingly cold and the deepest blue you've ever seen.  And even though it was such a dark blue, it was still crystal clear.   It was saltier than the Atlantic and so more bouyant.  Exhilirating, invigorating, refreshing. I will remember those moments, when I lay on my back and floated in deliciously icy cold waters on a blistering hot afternoon in Dubrovnik always.  It doesn't get better than that.    Or does it? And so we keep traveling to find the answer.

After paddling back we entered the gate of the Walled City and stopped by the internet cafe, so my son could get his fix. We bought our tickets to walk the wall and started climbing steps. After a morning of paddling and swimming, those steps were a challenge. It was hot and dry and the sky was a brilliant clear blue. There was not a speck of litter anywhere.  The views grew better and better the higher we climbed. We ate ice cream and watched the tourists go by.

The Croatian people were timid but kind. I bought a hand made embroidered lace table cloth from a woman on the street. She set out two or three tray tables from her home and laid out her work. She held a paper and pencil and a cheat sheet to convert to various dollars around the world. They don't use the Euro here. I paid less than $15 for that gorgeous tablecloth.  She was very grateful.
