Dusk in Kuching
Dusk in Kuching

We returned to Kuching one day earlier from Santubong cos I thought Holiday Inn was a little too ex for my budget and at the same time, Imp can have one extra day to do this survey at Datu Peninsula.. Unfortunately, the last minute change meant that only bunk beds were available in the ever popular Singgahsana Lodge.. and the only pair of sleeping shorts I had left were my old OCS red shorts with a gaping hole where the butt crack is.. lovely ain't it? Parading my ass around the bunk and down the hallways to the toilet! But the money saved from the accomodation downgrade and lovely evening in Kuching (not the mention the extra survey day for Imp) did justify my little exposure.. if only a little.. heh..

Souvenir galore

The next two days were spent touring the town on foot.. from checking out the best bargains among the souvenir shops along Main Bazaar to getting chatted up by a gay man (well, I think he's gay) at the museum.. exciting huh.. I must be getting more beautiful by the day hahaha! Ok la, the guy was quite harmless but I guess I'm not used to chatting with strangers on the street.. I'm not so sociable la..

Then of course, the survey at the not so far part of Datu Peninsula.. Frankly, I was not thrilled at the idea of following Imp walk around people's houses in the Borneo heat but ok la.. since it's one of the main reason why we were in Kuching.. Anyway, it did yield some rewards (mostly for him though).. like this pic of two men fishing in the drain.. hahaha.. I thought it was quite hilarious.. I hope they had a good catch that day! ;) Fishing, Kuching style

Ready.. ROW!
Ready.. ROW!
And just before we departed Kuching for the little-known Pontianak, Imp and I were rewarded with a showcase of rowing practice sessions along the Sarawak River, Kuching style.. So many teams practicing on their perahu bidars for the upcoming Sarawak Regatta, truly a colourful sight for both locals and tourists alike! Mother Nature was also in a good mood as we were further treated to a fantastic sunset that gave the town a warm evening glow.. as we watched the rowers row off into the sunset, we bade this lovely town farewell and prepared to embark on the next phase of our journey..
