Eventually writing this after a few days without a good internet connection so the photos will follow later. After the early get up yesterday we are taking it easy today. We visited Mossman gorge about 10 km up the road from Port Douglas. Yes more rainforest but a different view as you walk on the forest floor rather than on walkways as in other parts. Other than a shuttle bus from the visitors centre to the gorge the rest is free. There are different walks of varying lengths along the gorge parts of which are by the river which runs along the bottom. It`s lovely and quiet with amazing plant life and if you are lucky some animals. As we walked back there was an area of the river where you can swim. Fabulous views from the water which is lovely and cool in these tropical temperatures. A place not to be missed in this area. You can also go on guided walks which take you into different part of the forest and show you various aboriginal arts and cultural traditions.
By the afternoon the clouds had gone and it was lovely and sunny so the rest of the day was spent on the beach swimming and sunbathing.
Thursday 22nd November - good internet connection - photos added.
