The Macau Grand Prix and The City of Dreams

Sunday adventures began early in the morning as we hopped on the Turbo Jet Express ferry from Hong Kong to Macau. During peak travel times the ferry leaves every 15 minutes to the "Las Vegas of the East". Sunday was also the Macau Grand Prix which we had tickets for and was a pretty fun filled activity!
Now the ferry is pretty cool but I wore my magic wristbands anyway because the taxi out of the harbor was a bit on the rough side. Once in Victoria Harbor though, those giant jet engines wound up and away we went, one hour later, we were in Macau. Getting tickets was a task because we didn't know where to pick up our tickets and getting through security at the Grand Prix was a joke, we were able to get in without tickets and we did this by waving a paper and asking, "Where do we pick up our tickets?"
We missed the Porsche Carerra race but we were in time for the WTCC and the F3's. The first deep 90 degree turn at the Grand Prix was a doozie and was the highlight of the race since the course went essentially from six lanes to two and a hard right turn. Talk about position. I'm not a big racing buff, but these races were much more exciting than a NASCAR race hands down.
Skill and stamina.
The F3's at the Macau Grand Prix!
After the race, we wandered around Macau and went to the Wyn casino to watch the gambling take place. Baccarat is a big game and unlike the casino's in Las Vegas, everyone had to go through a security scan and no cameras were allowed in the casino area. Security is pretty tight there and since the city of Macau gets 40% of the profit from all casinos, they have a vested interest to keep the security pretty tight lid.
The Lisboa Casino, it hurts the eyes!
After roaming around the casino we decided to pay a site visit to the job we're working on out there, "The City of Dreams". It is a massive site, but not as big as the Venetian that's going up around it.
Those are the piles for the Hard Rock Hotel that are going in.
End of a long day, about to get on the last ferry to Hong Kong from Macau.
That tells it all...
