electric rainbow lights flashing across the dark, stuffy room. i awake at 4 am from a day of travel. stayed awake the whole night before, 7 am 5 hr plane ride to phoenix which i slept the whole way on, lay over of 15 minutes in which i shoved a cheese-less mini ($10!!) pizza into my mouth and jumped on board the 6 hr flight to Kona which I slept most of the way and snuck in some of the showed movie "Bride Wars" as well.

Dehydrated, starving, tired, and restless, I walked shakily to the airport driveway. Aki picks me up right on time, with a smile. I am too out of it for jokes and beg for him to stop at the Natural Foods Store. Grab a tempeh burger, nutty monkey shake, and a salad. I can barely eat anything though I feel extremely hungry.

Get back to the hostel. Get very sad. Leaving this time was the hardest yet. I didn't want to go. I still don't, a day later. And I made a promise to myself that next time I go home, it's for good. Not for a month. I am tired of back and forth, planning lives and then leaving them behind. Tired of having half of it all, everywhere I go. Because no matter what amazing place I find in the world with amazing lifestyles and natural environments, it will never be complete because my family isn't there. And no matter how much I love being around them, I will always hate living in the suburbs. So here I stand at the crossroads of a location decision.

But for now, I am on the road again. Going west. And really, it's not so bad. Really, it is amazing, quirky, wonderful, difficult and real. I am the first of my family to ever go to Asia. (Three weeks and counting..)

I am starving.. Eyeing up that salad for breakfast. Then a quick run in the rain (rain in Kona?!?) to the bus to take me to my homeside of the island. I need silence and solace. I need my cabin.

Late night infomercials are sucking me in. I want a bendy vacuum and six pack abs.

Great to hear from you
Hi Sweetie, I loved your first blog entry. We look forward to hearing about your adventures and also look forward to having you come home again.

We loved having you home. Painting your room was a long overdue change. I am glad that you found a way to make it yours. It looks great with all your stuff on the walls.
Guess what Dad found in the dirt in the garden, the last unfound Easter egg.I wonder how old it is?

love, Windyspree
