On Wednesday the 1st I worked all day with Cho (Korean guy). It was a hard day, with lots of rooms to clean. We worked from 9am to 5:30pm. Back at the hostel I talked to an Irish man from Roscommon. He was studying fossils in Australia and was in Cairns for conference and some training. Later that evening I watched the movie The Terminal staring Tom Hanks in the TV room of the hostel. A really good movie.
I worked from 9am to 7pm on Thursday the 2nd of August. I texted both the 4 Kerry girls and Wouter to see how and where they were. The 4 girls were still in Cairns, which was a surprise and so they invited me to go out with them tonight. Wouter was in Arile beach after spending 3 months in Town of 1770. By the end of the day my boss asked me did I want the day off tomorrow, I said yes. I got home at 8pm, had dinner and went to sleep for an hour. Elaine rang me and told me to meet them in P.J Brien's. Probably the best bar in Cairns. I got a big hug from 2 of them. There was also a dutch guy with them from Den Bosch. It was nice to meet the girls again and we had fun night.
Friday the 3rd and I had a day off and feeling a bit hung over again. :-) I had a Indian curry for dinner which was in combination with a movie ticket. Before the movie I talked to Alister, an Irishman from Co. Antrim who was studying to be a dentist. Later I went to the cinema to see Licenced to Wed staring Robin Williams. Funny, but just ok. I talked to the Irish guy again after the movie, he later went out while I stayed in and updated my travel log.
On Saturday the 4th I worked from 9am to 3pm. After work I walked around the city and had dinner in the food court. On Sunday the 5th I worked from 9-3pm. That night I went to P.J Brien's, while there I met and talked to an Irishman from Co. Meath. He was here to check Australia out. I have noticed that there are 3 types of travelers in OZ. Holiday people, backpacker people and potential backpackers. I tried to go to Nu-Trix afterwards buy it was closed.
I had a day of on Monday the 6th of August. This was going to be my last week in Cairns. During the day I got a hair cut and went to the post office to sent 2.8kg of stuff back to Ireland that I did not need any more. That night I read my book.
Tuesday the 7th of August was my penultimate day at work, I worked from 12-7pm. It was a bit of a sad day, saying good bye to Liz. Error: Photo does not exist in this entry Also during the day my boss told me that if I was ever to come back to Cairns I had a job there. Nice to know. That night I went to see Knocked Up at the cinema. ok ish. After the movie I finished my book 'Survivors' it was about the destruction of America and the second coming of Jesus Christ. :-)
It was my last day at work on the 8th of August. My holiday begins again. :-). I was washing windows of the water feature all day. Said good bye to Erik, Debbie and Sharon and all of the Korean people. During work I booked a Bungee jump for tomorrow and since I worked in the hotel I would get 20% off. After work I went to the internet cafe for 2 hours and started a new book which I found at work called 'False Impression' by Jeffery Archer.
