Day two on Fraser and we were all up at 7:30am. We had cornflakes for beakie and our plan was to get to Indian head. While driving there we came across a very sandy part in which there was allot of vehicles stuck in the sand.
We helped to push and dig them out. We then decided to try it ourselves, but with only the driver in it. We made it, cool. We drove onto the champagne pools, which is the only salt water place you can swim, since you are not allowed to swim in the sea due to the sharks. I did not think much of the champagne pools, which were basically puddles of water behind rocks. I decided to go for a walk with the French girl in my group and on the way back from our walk we seen a kangaroo, well a joey really (a smaller version of a kangaroo), it was my first oz kangaroo. We drove to Indian head, which was a nice walk up a cliff. On they way up we seen a lizard type thing, see photo.
On top of Indian head was a nice look out over the sea, you are meant to see sharks, mantra rays, dolphins and whales from this point, but we did not. It kinda reminded me of the cliffs of Mohar in Ireland. Our stay was cut short here because of a rain storm came in off the sea. We all ran back to the jeep, soaking wet. good fun though.
We then drove to a camp site to use the facilities and while there we seen our first dingo. The dingoe's on Fraser are the most purest breed of dingo anywhere in Australia. Anyway one of the Italian guy's drove us to Wabby lake, but on the way we stopped at Eli creek, in which 4 of us including me walked down it. (They were eels in it).
We got the point where we could not drive any more to lake wabby and so we had to walk the rest. It was an amazing walk, it started off with a little walk through a forest then there was just sand, then sand dunes and more sand dunes and then more sand again. It felt like I was in the Sahara desert, even though I have no idea what it is like to be in the Sahara desert. We wanted water. We got to the lake and it was beautiful, most of us went for a swim, and in fact 4 of group me included swam to the other side. Swimming back from the other side I saw someone splashing in the water and then suddenly I heard help, but by that stage there was 4 other people swimming to the guy (Chinese).
He was very lucky since they got to him just as his head went under water. The brought him to there other side and he was ok. We chilled out some more at lake Wabby before heading back to the jeep. I had a go at driving along the beach again and it went much better this time. I drove to where we were camping. But on the way we had to help another 4x4 since they were stuck in the sand. We set up camp and the Italians cooked a very nice pasta to restaurant standard. (lekker).
That night the French (Marie) girl and I drank a bottle of wine together. The drinking games also began again, I only participated in a few since it is not really my thing. I went for a walk to an other group and talked with them for a while. It also rained that night. It was a long day and so I was in bed by 10pm. :-) I got up during the night to go to the toilet. But went I looked over into the middle of our camping area there was a dingo there, he came running towards me, I ran into the tent and zipped it up as fast as I could, I could see him standing out side the tent. I was frighted (a little) and my hearth was beating fast. Holly shit. I just lid down.
