Byron Bay and Snorkeling

In the morning of Thursday the 19th of April I decided to get my hair cut, as it was becoming very difficult to manage and for the rest of the day I spent it on the beach, just swimming, sunbathing and talking to other back packers. I also started to realize something about Australia and that is, it is for people who like to swim, love the sun and do nothing and of course beer, with lots of adventures thrown in. The photo of the lizard was taken in the back garden of the hostel; we had our very own pet lizard.
The next day was also a beach day, since Byron bay is a beautiful beach, so why not. :-) That night I did not plan to go out, but everyone in my dorm was in a good mood and there was a good vibe between us. This was the first time I tried goon, which is basically cheap wine in a box, it contains elements of fish, very nice, not really. Quite disgusting really. But I drank it. In fact we all drank it. Later on one of the guys in the room allowed one of the girls to put make up on him and in return she had to find a woman to give him a blow job when we went up. But by the time we were going out it was decided that we would all put some make up on, well eye liner on our face.
It would be our way of identifying us as been part of our gang. We then went to Coco Cabanas disco and had some more beers and danced a little. The four boys including myself left within an hour. It was an ok place,, in fact I would not recommend it. Cheeky Monkeys is better. I woke the next day with a bit of a hangover, but not too much. I had booked my Snorkeling for 12:45pm. I had to be there a half an hour before that time. I remember walking in and seen all the divers in the swimming pool doing there open water Padi diving certificate course. It was cool to see as I got to see some of the hand gestures that they use under the water. I plan to do this course in Magnetic Island. It was time for us to go snorkeling, there were four people for snorkeling and the rest were diving. I could not dive since I do not have my diving certificate. They took us down to the beach where we were all got onto a speed boat. We headed towards the rocks, which is actually the top of a mountain under water. It was a good feeling being in the boat, but you had to hold on very tight. We got to the rocks and the divers exited the boat first. I was wearing a suit that allowed you to float, so no need to use much energy in the water. I got into the water and just floated. It took me a while to get used of the breathing, but after a while it felt great.
I saw two turtles and lots of tropical colored fish, I seen Nemo :-). Diving or Snorkeling at Byron bay is a unique experience, since it has both a warm and a cold water front (current) flowing very near each other, so you get to see both types of fish. Warm water and cold water fish. It was a pity it had to end. And I can't wait to do it again. We got back on the boat and drove back to the shore. I spent the afternoon at the beach and that night Wouter and I went out to the rails bar, which plays live music every night. And course for out last night in good old Byron we went to Cheeky Monkeys for another night of dancing on tables.
