Today we took a car to drive us up to Big Almaty Lake. It is about an hour drive south of the city up a steep and rough mountain road.

Big Almaty Lake is a beautiful clear blue glacier lake high up in the mountains at 2500 meters altitude. It is surrounded by huge snow covered peaks. The lake itself isn't actually that big, it derives it's name from the fact that it is fed from the Big Almaty River.
