Officially it's the first day of summer, which also marks the first day of the wet season. True to form it was bucketing down with rain this morning which made me take my first wrong step on this trip. I was booked on a snorkelling trip today (nothing like getting straight back into the water to build some confidence), however, given the intensity of the rain, I was offered the choice of cancelling the trip. If not for the fact that I had a 13 hour coach journey to Hervey Bay that evening, I would have gone on the trip anyway, but having travelled immediately after a day at the waterfalls in the pouring rain in the Atherton Tablelands, to be honest, I wasn't too keen on repeating that particular experience, so I took the offer and cancelled the trip. Of course, two hours after I'd done that the day cleared up and it was a lovely day. Unfortunately, I just didn't want to risk it. Better safe than sorry. Therefore, I'd spent the entire day in Airlie Beach not doing much of anything. I'd already checked out of my room at 7am and so there was nothing to except chill, which, perhaps unsurprisingly, I happen to be particularly good at.
