Each year recently the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) organization has taken a group for a Spanish Language Immersion trip. This year the group will be attending the Sakribal School in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The trip will last from Nov. 11 through Nov. 26 2006. We will be improving our Spanish skills and forming a small, temporary community of faith.
**Note if you click on the Sakribal link above the little hands on the left are links. It is not very obvious.****
-You can read more about the area we will be visiting here, or here.
- You can check the weather in Quetzaltenango here.
We will each be placed with a local family. I understand that the daily schedule for the weekdays will be:
-Breakfast with our family
-8a to 1p Private Spanish instruction at the school.
-Lunch with our family
-Afternoon spent touring the local area and applying our newly learned language skills.
-Dinner and evening with our family.
During the weekend we will be doing things as a group. Not sure what they will be. Stay tuned. Each day we will attempt to have a devotional/worship time together.
I have been taking Spanish classes for about a year and a half at Language Institute of Atlanta. I started after taking a mission trip to Honduras with Honduras Outreach Incorporated through the N. Ga. Conference of the UMC. You can read more about this trip here. I have been back to Honduras twice since starting. Check out my pictures from these trips.
